wishing

I wish I had spent more time with my Grandmother when I visited last, I wish we had spoken more often whilst I was away, I wish I had gone to the hospital the night she died, I wish she hadn’t died, I wish I hadn’t missed out on the last 20 years of her life by living mine away, I wish she could have lived forever and sometimes I really thought she would… and then I found this

nanpills

and now I don’t wish it so much as I did.

This is so sweet and funny, in a tender sort of way. I’m touched by your love for your grandmother, and by her sense of humor over such a simple thing as her pill line-up.

She sounds wonderful and intuitive. It’s nice that you were able to find her creative writing. It says so much about her personality.

I was so touched by this. You’re so lucky to have these little reminders of her personality.

My grandmother told me a story of her and my grandfather, in their younger days, teasing his mother for her cosmetic bag full of all her pills. She was laughing about it as she sorted through the SHOEBOX of medication her and my grandfather had to wade through each day.

She was a special lady. Always with us.I’ll never forget her hula-hooping on Xmas day at her place when she must have been 80, she had a great sense of fun and humour, love u Nan.

I think I recognize some of those pills! And I hope I can leave a happy note like that for my grandson and the one on the way.

She was an amazing lady, and had the biggest heart & love for her family. Whenever I feel down about missing her, I go to my fridge where I have the happiest, smiliest picture I have of her, and I laugh cause that’s the picture you took of her, with you in the frame! Celebrate the best parts of her with your cooking, make her favourite foods and share with your famly and friends and that piece of Nan will live on through you XX sis

Toni, do you think that Nan actually made that up? It looks that way. If so, I never realized she was that talented. She hated taking pills. You can imagine her sitting in her chair looking at the pills with disdain and making that little poem up.

Honestly when I found this, I wasn’t sure what to think. It sure is pretty great what she wrote though.
