to all the people….

of Fleischmans, Arkville, Margaretville, Phoenicia, Shandaken, Roxbury, Prattsville, Windham… and anywhere else I don’t know about, due to a massive lack of coverage, of the complete devastation of these little Catskill towns.  I, and am sure you all are too are still in a state of disbelief at the magnitude of damage that upstate New York incurred…

This picture of the local diner in Margaretville says it all.

It will be at least another 10 days before me and Mr Weiss attempt getting to the house, that is, if the car wasn’t washed away, it was parked at the Hudson train station.

Hope your wee house and land is ok…let us know. We have been through two big floods when we were at Kaeo (and numerous small ones) and I’m glad to be out of the flood zone – we only have tsunamis to worry about now!. It must be a rare event for hurricane damage that far north.Love to you both…

we were very very lucky, the wee house is up high in the mountains, so no flooding. A few trees down and lost of electricity for week. we got off lightly!
