no rest for the….

It was a big weekend around the “wee house”, Mr Weiss and I cracked the whip, rolled up our sleeves, gave the heave ho and knocked off a list of chores one of us had put together… hee hee.

We finally had some weather that warranted being outside for longer than a few minutes and ran about like a couple of crazies,  mowing, weeding, digging, cleaning, wood organizing, sweeping, watering and a whole host of other words ending in -ing!

Eating being one of them… I made these again…

chocolate ginger cookies..

roasted veggie pizza, a melange of roasted peppers, zucchini, squash with olives, fresh oregano, garlic, crushed red pepper flakes on a base of ricotta and home made pesto, this had mozzarella and parmesan dumped all over it, before it met a 400F oven for about 25 mins!

This salad is based on one of my favorite restaurants in the East Village, a greek place called Pylos, it’s our version of their salad “maroulosalata”. We use shredded romaine, chopped dill, parsley, scallions and crumbled feta cheese with a basic lemon/oil dressing. Simple and yummy.

lunch of potato pierogies with sauerkraut and sour cream…

I had about 1/2 pound of cod, I put over a bed of sliced lemons, drizzled with olive oil, salt and pepper and fresh oregano leaves, bundled it into a foil package and threw this on the grill for about 20 mins.

we’d already eaten most of it by the time I remembered to take a picture, the fish was moist, juicy and had a wonderful lemon flavor.  I also made a blueberry sorbet… recipe coming.

With all this eating it’s actually a wonder we got anything done!
