I’m back from Des Moines and I think pictures speak louder than words…. this was my week in food.
the white stuff on the right of this plate is “waldorf salad” which had FLUFF and mini marshmellows in it… umm not exactly what I was expecting…
something green lurks below… could that be LETTUCE??
by the way the appetizer to this meal below, was fried pickles, fried tater tots wrapped in bacon and deep fried mini hot dogs wrapped in bacon, or affectionately called “pig on pig”…
it goes without saying that I thoroughly revolted myself and will be doing THIS as soon as humanly possible!!

Get that nutritional broth on the stove…now!
Catskill Kiwi! I am from the IA and can tell you that not everyone in Iowa eats this terrible food! There are many amazing places to go out to eat and have some sort of culinary experience. Especially in West Des Moines. I live in Atlanta now, but next time I am in Iowa feel free to join me and I would be happy to escort you around for a better/healthier culinary experience!
Jen I would love that!!
OMG! what a unappetising display fried food! Bet you are glad to be home. Welcome home anyway, look forward to your further posts.
Oof, that makes my stomach feel a little heavy. After traveling for several days, I always have such a craving for “normal” foods – home cooked simple stuff, not off a menu. Man, your pics are really making me crave some dark leafy greens. What a week!

Uh-oh, I seem to be the only one who’s getting hungry looking at these…
