post birthday

Of course it mostly centered around food, but we did manage to get in a little bit of exercise, between courses that is!

french toast with strawberries, to kick off the day

then a walk in one of the many beautiful Catskill mountain state parks and trails, followed by pizza at Oakley’s Place on Route 28 just down from Belleayre Mountain.  We’ve always been curious about this place, which doesn’t look like much on the outside but boy, delicious, super thin crust, piping hot GREAT pizza’s. Will definitely be back for seconds and most likely thirds and fourths…. well you get the picture.

Then dinner…

sauteed fiddleheads, recipe here.

roasted baby potatoes, roll them in some olive oil, sea salt, rosemary sprigs and whole garlic cloves, place on sheet pan and roast at 375 F for about 25 mins, until tender and golden brown.

piece of black cod, sauteed in butter with a nice big lemon wedge… and of course to finish off there was this.

recipe here.  I was in too much of a food induced at this stage to take a finished pavlova photo, but it was covered with whipped cream, more strawberries and passionfruit (my all time fav!)

Happy Birthday to you Mr Weiss.

Looks like you had a great day – gorgeous food too, I’ve always been curious about those fiddleheads since I saw them on Laura Calder’s cooking show.

Happy birthday to your mister 🙂
