a new york moment…

Yesterday, for the big THREE, we decided to have a New York vacation day… which means taking advantage of living in a city such as this… so we put on our “glad rags” and stumbled off into the day..

First stop,  we had a small breakfast in the courtyard at the MOMA

ann6

had to get my favorite pair of shoes in this one… without stepping on my croissant OR kicking over my cappuccino! Spent a couple of hours checking out Monet’s Water Lilies, “Looking at Music” in the Media Gallery, and of course their amazing permanent collection that rambles on for days…

Next up, a fancy pants lunch at Jean Gorges, they have an unbeatable New York deal of $28.oo prix fix lunch. You get to choose from any two items listed, so you can eat lightly or pig out (jean gorge style) as you want.  It was awesome, the food fantastic, the room relaxing and you can get out quite cheaply if you skip ordering any extras.  For example you don’t really need to order dessert, part of the prix fix includes a small plate of homemade marshmallows, chocolates and macaroons.  We even got to see the man himself, shmoozing the fat cats at the table next to us.

To avoid an after lunch food coma, we strolled back to the MOMA… passing this along the way…

Shame, of course I had to take a picture… it being the theme of the day…

Once we got tossed out of the museum, at closing, we headed over the The Rockefeller Observation Deck, or rather Top of the Rock, which is FAR more civilized and FAR less annoying than trying to get up the Empire State Building.

and you get a great view of it instead…

with central park on the other side…

ann15

is it a bird, or a plane.. yeah well it’s a plane… but from this far away, I could just say it’s a UFO and you’d be none the wiser.

wait who’s this handsome fella? I might just have to throw myself at him… oh yeah I already did HA

ann

and it worked… hee hee hee

After our million dollar view, we walked up to the Lincoln Center Cinema and finished off the day with Jane Campion’s return to splendor “Bright Star”.  Beautiful and I only JUST kept it together in an heartbreaking epic scene of amazing acting abilities.

And that was a pretty terrific NY day…  capped off by one of us getting their favorite chocolates, passion fruit filled dark chocolate hearts.. from Mr Jacques Torres

and NO you can’t have any!
