Looking around online this morning and loving the fact that everyone is posting their gorgeous pretty full spring in bloom pictures…. unfortunately we’re a little bit behind here up the mountains, this is the best I could do….

I would like to take credit for these, I know last fall I frantically ran amok planting bulbs willy nilly, but I have no idea where and what they were, but we’ll just chalk this one up to me, right?

I can’t remember how I can across your site, but I did about 2 months ago. I’m enjoying it immensely, especially this post! That looks just about like my yard right now, and my garden tools, especially the pick axe. I’m in Sullivan County on the other edge of the catskills. We may be about 1 or two weeks ahead of you because a few crocus bloomed here 2 weeks ago (then the rabbits ate them). Anyhow, wishing you tons of luck with your vegetable garden, things will grow!

Sure does look like chives and healthy ones too! Once those pretty little purple flower tops open stick a few under the soil wherever you have room. They easily grow new plants. Can’t have too many chives now can ‘ya?
The garden tool photos is actually really beautiful. You couldn’t have styled the grass better if you tried. In the photo it takes on a blowing wheat field look. Seriously, I love it.
I just did a blog entry about how April is a tease in the Catskills, but in May we will be the envy of all the southerners:)
Are you doing potatoes?
Traditionally Potatoes and cauliflower were grown in our area. My mother has terrible luck with tomatoes but we have excellent greens and zucchini:)

Hi Ulla, funny you should mention the potatoes, I just came from the Agway in Stamford and they had huge sacks of seeded potatoes, i did think about getting some, but since I was already clutching broccoli rabe, kale and swiss chard seeds i thought i’d better quite whilst i’m….. well i’m not actually ahead, if you’ve read the last couple of blog entries you’ll know i’ve only successfully killed things so far! OH WELL…. going to head on over to your blog and check out the “april tease!”, sure is!

Gardening is about patience which is something I am not at all!
But that is why i like it! There is nothing like having to wait to let things grow. I let my mother do the brain work and I help her weed and I also pick berries for her. She appreciates that I do manual work and she knows how to grow everything. i am no green thumb!
I think enthusiasm is all you need with gardening! You seem to have a lot of that!:)
